Considering that you have a finite amount of time, passive income should make up a large part of your work. And if you're serious about generating any semblance of income online, then passive income should be one of your sole goals and ambitions. Why? Simply this. Wouldn't you prefer to do the work one time and get paid repeatedly as opposed to relying on your time to generate that income?

I think the important point though is you shouldn’t be penny wise and pound foolish. If you build up a site to the point that’s making $500 a month by spending a few hundred on cheap link services it’s eventually going to crash and burn especially if it’s not balanced out with high authority and more natural looking links. Then you lose that income and all the money you paid to develop the site and create valuable content. It all goes out the window unless you know how to get a penalty lifted which is really time intensive. Instead you could just spend more time and money up front building quality links.

If you have a background in a specific field, you may find there is a demand for writing industry papers in your area of expertise. For example, there are often adverts for doctors, lawyers, nutritionists, and business experts from particular niches, to write white papers on different subject areas. These are well paid jobs that you will need to stake your reputation on, but that can often be worked on from the comfort of your own home.
Before I talk about some of the methods for making money online, I wanted to address the role of pain versus pleasure. Every decision that we make in life is weighed on a pain-versus-pleasure scale. We will always do more to avoid pain than we will to gain pleasure, plain and simple. However, this is also what holds us back from succeeding in any endeavor.

I think Drop shipping is the best way that can help you make money online. It is the only way that allows you to start an online business without investing capital in inventory, warehouse and to buy products individually from a wholesaler and ship them directly to your customer. Moreover, with my drop shipping experience, you will learn key strategies that you won’t learn anywhere else to help your online business grow and thrive.
Many big businesses are looking for social media influencers to become long-term ambassadors for their brand. This would involve you working closely with one particular band, and promoting their clothes, products, and services. You may also be restricted from promoting other brands, so check out the small print before agreeing to any long-term agreements.
You are not bothering me. Please don’t think that! 🙂 Yes, I’d encourage you to go on my Amazon page (after you start your blog) and purchase whatever book pertains to you and what you want to learn. I have them each by topic, so you only have to read what you want and not what you don’t! The book that I would suggest most is, How To Turn Your Blog Into a Six-Figure Money Making Machine. You can pre-order it here on Amazon. This book will take you step-by-step through everything so you stay on course, doing the things you need to do, and not doing those things that are a waste of time!

Hi Sean…love the article. I have been trying to come up with a good strategy for coming up with a solid niche that I can be successful with and your article has helped me tremendously. I have combined your advice with the advice from another article and I think I have about 3 ideas that I will try to narrow down to 1. Do you have a timeline of how many articles you get up with a new site and the money that you will make on average per month for the first 6 months?

26. Services – You can offer a paid service, such as life coaching, blog coaching, goal setting or financial planning. Just be sure to investigate all the legal implications and make sure you’re not claiming to be a professional if you’re not one. With a service like this, you’re basically using your blog to sell yourself. You’ll need to convince people that you’re worth buying and then be able to back up your claims once they purchase your service.
A website called AchieveMint gives you points for engaging in healthy activities, like exercise, tracking your eating habits, or even taking health related surveys. Points can be redeemed either for cash (10,000 points are worth $10) or for Amazon Gift Cards. The app actually connects with other health apps, like Fitbit and MyFitnessPal, to track your progress.
Fiverr: Israeli-based Fivver was started in 2010 by Shal Wininger and Micha Kaufam. It's a great resource for selling just about any service online. You can offer gigs as low as $5 but also get paid much more for upgrades and add-ons. There are plenty of providers earning 6 figures on Fiverr so it's definitely a worthwhile cause for generating a healthy income. Just ensure that you provide some serious value.

More and more companies and startups especially are embracing remote work—where you use online collaboration and communication tools to do your work from wherever you want. And you don’t have to be a 20-something hotshot designer or coder to reap the benefits of working remotely. Many remote positions are for customer support positions or other customer-facing positions that don’t require specialized skill sets.

Decluttr is easy to use. Grab an unwanted item, check that Decluttr buys it (for instance: CDs are great, old clothing is not), and enter its barcode into Decluttr’s “valuation engine” or use your Decluttr smartphone app (iOS and Android) to scan your item directly. You’ll receive an instant price quote that you can accept or decline with no obligation. If you accept, just pack your items into a box large enough to fit them, slap a free Decluttr shipping label on it, and bring it to any authorized UPS location (including drop boxes, if your box contains fewer than 25 items). Decluttr issues your payment the day after your item arrives by PayPal, direct deposit, or paper check. There’s no practical limit to the number of items you can sell: each order is technically limited to 500 items, but you can create as many orders as you like in any given timeframe.
Learn then selling guidelines. Each marketplace has guidelines that define what you can and cannot sell. State and federal laws also impact what items are prohibited. In general, you cannot sell alcohol, weapons, service contracts, animals or event tickets. Also, while not always prohibited, you may find restrictions on how you can sell items in some categories, such as art, gift cards and coupons.[27] eBay, Craigslist and Amazon publish these guidelines on their websites.
BKA Content – If you’re interested in getting your feet wet with freelance writing, BKA Content may be a good entry-level fit for you. They’re looking for creative, passionate writers to add to their team of content-producers. They’re keen on fostering a team mentality with their independent contractors, to keep them motivated and producing. Beyond focusing on motivation online, they also sponsor community events, throw a BBQ every year, and often run writer initiatives like blog competitions and photo contests. Requirements include having access to Microsoft Word and the Internet, along with a Gmail address and a Paypal account. Also, BKA Content hires only US citizens currently. Pay periods are every 2 weeks, and writers average between $8 and $14 per hour.

Companies are hiring lots of search engine evaluators. You can work from home with no experience needed. This side gig helps search engines or companies evaluate their services and help them to know whether website users will have a better experience or not. If you have your own eCommerce store, social media is the perfect platform to showcase your products. Demonstrate your products in use and tell your social following why they need to buy your merchandise. Most social media channels allow you to add ‘buy’ buttons your pages, allowing your followers to easily click through to your site and make a purchase.
Measurement Incorporated – From March through June, Measurement Incorporated hires Reader/Evaluators to score tests in subjects like English Language Arts, mathematics, science and so forth. Measurement Incorporate provides paid training during set hours, and then Reader/Evaluators work Monday through Friday. Confidentiality is important in this position, and you must have a secure place to do the work. You’ll also need a home computer with high-speed Internet access.

Money can be earned and spent, saved and pilfered, invested and wasted. Not time. That's why time is far more valuable than money. The point? When you lack the luxury of time, making money online (or offline) can seem like an impossible task. How are you supposed to do that when you're working at a life-sucking nine-to-five job? While the stability of full-time employment might allow most to sleep well at night, it doesn't empower your creative juices to search for new income-producing strategies.
Of course, there is a lot you can do to promote and market your Kindle book, so that it gets selling.  This is all stuff that can be learned on your own (just through searching the internet), or can be learned through investing in a course (again, costs money).  It will take you longer and require more effort to learn how to market your book on your own, but it IS possible (if you don't want to invest any money).
When it comes to your paid search ads, it’s crucial to put yourself in the shoes of your prospects. Incorporating emotion into your ad copy is always a good idea, and that’s especially true when you’re trying to convince someone to make a fairly important life decision. Your work-from-home business isn’t advertising a job opening—you’re advertising a new lifestyle. Add a little humanity to your headlines with something like: “Support Your Home from Your Home” or “Earn Money Where You’re Most Comfortable.” Headlines like these are effective because they appeal to our loves for family and the home.
Your Deals. In addition to establishing a per-class price, also offer packages to entice people to sign up for more than one class. For example, if you intend to host classes on making soap, offer the classes individually, as well as in a group. Someone could take a class learning how to use fresh flowers in homemade soap, or they could buy a bundle that teaches them how to use those, fresh herbs, and plastic toys for kid’s soap. However you decide to price your classes, remember that the buyer will want to feel like they’re getting a lot for their money. If you can provide that in a fun atmosphere, they’ll likely be back time and time again – and they’ll bring friends.
Hi Ian, the rest will be determined by you, meaning how much content the site has, how many comments and overall how many pages/posts you have written up to boost the website’s authority. Just seeing the keyword and a low competition number is good, but ultimately what boosts it to the top pages are those 2 things + your work to make it happen. And I would not dwell on any particular keyword if it isn’t hitting the first page, sometimes it can take a long time to go, the best thing to do is continue to find more and more keywords and write up content on them.
For example, iStockPhoto.com, owned by Getty Images, requires you to apply to be a contributor. You can submit Photos, Illustrations, Video and Audio but you will need three samples of your work. If accepted, you'll be paid a 15% commission for each file downloaded and if you agree to be exclusive. If you make iStock your exclusive royalty-free agent, you can earn up to 45% with additional attention.
Website Content Writing experts are hired by companies that are planning to add new content or want to upgrade the old one. You can provide them the reliable services including SEO article writing, blog writing, e-book writing. Make sure you write high-quality content. Money will follow.  Fiverr, Contenta, Upwork, Textbroker, Freelancer, Problogger and iWriter are some of the best platforms to find online content writing gigs for people who have no experience.
The insight you provide can be the determining factor between someone engaging with your content or your competitors.Your insight offers value to your readers, which can lead to ‘aha’ moments, ‘aha’ moments creates bursts of energy, energy creates action, and the right actions lead to sales. Insightful content cannot be created without going deep on a subject, but insight is very easy to achieve with the right thought process. Insightful content connects your readers to your message, and your personality creates the likeability factor. These two factors coupled together creates a winning combination.
When it comes to at-home income, selling your unwanted stuff is the definition of “low-hanging fruit.” Even if you’re resolutely intentional in your purchasing habits, you surely have possessions that you can do without: old kids’ clothing and toys, disused sporting goods, out-of-fashion wardrobe accessories, electronics, entertainment, valuable but non-sentimental keepsakes such as watches and jewelry, broken-in furniture, dusty tools and outdoor equipment, and perhaps even big-ticket items like a motorcycle or second car.

Ad search and quality rating is the service hired by companies that want their ads to rank higher on Google. You have to rate the ad search and quality of search results. You will provide services related to these online ads to help them maintain their Google, Yahoo or Bing ranking. These side jobs are among the best work from home jobs no experience needed. You can Get Paid to Browse the Internet in U.S.A and the world.
For the starters, expert bloggers have been noted saying that most of them used a tried and tested method. For example, they created a niche which is familiar to their target audience and catered content and ad requirements which are completely user-oriented. Second, after consistently receiving a visitor list of around 10,000 per day, they focused on a leading advertising agency in the country who can pay them best. Many ad agencies offer easy selling options but only the best ones can change the face of affiliate marketing for you, for the better. Their high standards will eventually lead your business towards a good point and you’ll no more feel that you need cheap ad banners or just-for-the-sake-of-money ad servings. The biggest advantage is that they will provide reports of ad tracking (insights on revenue generation) through their mobile analytics platform.
One factor that you must be aware of though is that Care.com is a peer-to-peer arrangement. That means that you will be in direct competition with other pet sitters in your area. You must price your services competitively in order to get business. Once you begin to develop a list of regular clients, you will be in a better position to raise your rates. This will be particularly true as you get referrals from those customers.
If you know how to design a website, or can muster the patience to learn the necessary HTML, Javascript and CSS, you can launch a website design business with no money. A number of sites offer free website hosting and domain/subdomain names, and you can build your own website to support the new business. A simple email to friends and business associates letting them know you now offer website design services starts the marketing ball rolling for free.
From the above screenshot of the results for “polka dot twin bedsheets for a girl” I would try to combine the 3 red underlined keywords into one post to try rank for them all. So I would write a post with a title similar to this” Cute Polka Dot Twin Sheets -Bedding & Comforter Sets”. This title captures the entire word “polka dot twin sheets (Most traffic and least competition) and I also added the other words from the other 2 keywords. This way I’m ranking for all 3  keywords and giving me the chance of getting 216 avg traffic per month. Plus a heap more if I write related content in the post. As the competition is low on all 3, I would feel very comfortable of ranking on page 1 or atleast page 2 of Google the next day. This keyword is VERY targeted. I know the view want Polka Dots on a Twin size bed sheet. My job is to deliver them what they want and I make easy money.
Every year, hundreds of millions of documents are notarized in the United States: wills, mortgages, citizenship forms, handgun applications. While for decades, this has all been done in person, there is a budding crop of sites that allow notaries to take their services online. If you’re already a notary, you can sell your services online. Or, if you want to get started, check out the National Notary’s checklist for becoming a certified notary.
SwagBucks PayPal gift card redemption is definitely not instant. Their website says it can take up to 10 business days. I have cashed in several PayPal gift cards with them and it could take anywhere from 24 hours to the full 10 days to receive them. About 5 business days seems to be most common. Don’t get me wrong…I love earning with SwagBucks. But Paypal payment is definitely not instant.
Often, what happens is that we run into unscrupulous Internet Marketers (IMs) who have less-than altruistic intentions of extracting money from you rather than helping you to make it. However, this isn't something new. People have been falling for networking marketing, pyramid schemes, and affiliate marketing scams since before the start of the net.
Please note that some of the links below are affiliate links and at no additional cost to you, I will earn a commission. Know that I only recommend products, tools and learning resources I've personally used and believe are genuinely helpful, not because of the small commissions I make if you decide to purchase them. Most of all, I would never advocate for buying something that you can't afford or that you're not yet ready to implement.
Sykes – Sykes provides companies with outsourced customer service solutions, and they do this globally. Right now, they’re looking for full-time customer service representatives to work for them from home. Their customer service reps field calls for many different industries – from healthcare providers to cable companies – and they spend their time processing transactions, resolving customer concerns, answering questions, and more. They need empathetic, outgoing people who are good on the phone, especially if those people have customer service experience! You must have a Windows PC with a high-speed Internet connection, and headsets. This position includes benefits and hourly pay reportedly averages between $9 and $10.
Etsy: While Etsy's popularity has declined recently, it's still a great resource for selling handmade items online. No need for complex ecommerce sites or merchant accounts or any sort of automation. The company takes a commission of every sale and charges a small listing fee per item. But many still use Etsy as their primary source of income. The best part is that you can also sell digital products on here such as poster designs.
For those with a large Twitter following, you can make money from your Tweets alone with Sponsored Tweets. You could be paid for sharing a business’s information, recommending restaurants or hotels, or tweeting pictures of you using or wearing products. As with all sponsored posts on social media, businesses will only be prepared to pay you to Tweet if you have a large following that you can influence. So work hard on building up a loyal fan base.

My 10-year-old son brought home a book from our park’s free library box. It was a biology textbook – teachers edition. He said it looked interesting and hey, it was free (having no idea you could sell it). I scanned it in my Amazon seller app and realized it was worth around $150. He was so excited. We listed it for sale for $130 and it sold! Going to tell him, he just made $130!
SEO Specialists are important for companies to maintain their online ranking. You can provide targeted keywords, taglines, title tags and meta tags to the companies as well as help them with backlinks to make sure they can maintain and grow their Google organic ranking. Fiverr, Upwork, Freelancer, Facebook, and Pinterest are among the places you can find these side hustles.
InstaGC is a rewards site you can use to redeem instantly for Amazon gift codes (and all kinds of other gift codes). With this site, it's possible to earn money for doing all sorts of things which include short tasks, surveys, watching videos, listening to music, and more. What I love most about this one is that when you do redeem, there is NO waiting. You just ask for your code and it's there waiting for you on the next screen. It's also possible to request a check for a cash payment, but you will have to wait several days for that to show up in the mail.

Choosing the right ‘niche’ is an article topic on it’s own and it’s arguably the most important part of the making money with a niche website process. If you don’t pick the right niche, it will a) be difficult to get traffic because the competion for ranking your site in the SERPS will be very tough and b) there will be many other websites doing the exact same thing and c) your niche topic might not be easy to make money in.

Creating space for banner ads on your website is another way to generate a revenue from adverts. However for this type of advertising you will need to contact businesses directly and ask them if they would like to advertise on your website. The upside is that you can charge a set amount, or even a recurring monthly fee, to business to promote their services on your site. Using a WordPress plugin like AdSanity is an effective way to manage this type of advertising.
WebMD uses a variety of moneymaking strategies and is an example of an authority website, which is the go-to place for information on a given topic. In a similar vein, The Simple Dollar is an online resource and budding authority website on personal finance topics. We value our readers and try to provide you with valuable content to keep you coming back. But your focus shouldn’t be on making millions or becoming an authority website. Your goal should be delivering value, solving a meaningful problem, and making that first dollar online.
Some sites accept articles from writers who are new to online writing. They pay upfront for any article you write providing your work is accepted by the relevant site. You can find blogging jobs on many online job boards that post blogging jobs. You can also sell your pre-written content via many article marketplace sites. Here are some sites offer writing gigs and let you sell your written content:
If you want to help shape products in their early stages, joining an online focus group or answering survey questions is a great way to make extra money online. They don’t pay as much as some of the other options we’ve highlighted, but you can join groups on sites like Survey Junkie, Swagbucks, and IPSOS that pay out through Amazon gift cards, check, or PayPal. You’ll be asked to provide a bit of information about your demographics (age, location, etc…), but after that you can get going making money through surveys.
I’m a professional web developer and have a personal interest in travel hacking so I decided to build a credit card search tool specifically for travel hackers. Before officially launching the site, I applied for entry into the affiliate programs of all the major credit card companies but each company denied my application because I did not have enough traffic. I later came to realize that it is actually very difficult to get into these programs and that I’d have to generate a large amount of traffic before even being accepted.

Here’s a good example of how lead sales can work in real life: My second website, Life Insurance by Jeff, brings in a ton of traffic from people who are searching the web to find answers to life insurance questions. While I used to have the website set up so I could sell these people life insurance myself, it was a lot of work to process all the different requests and clients. As a result, I started selling the leads I gathered instead.

In this case, the business opportunity lies in having the first movers advantage and creating a niche website which focuses extensively on Korean watches. If your website has good enough material on Korean watches and slowly emerges as the best possible resource people refer for buying and learning more about that particular segment, gradually it will turn into a viable business.

Affiliate marketing is a high yielding and promising business for those who have learned the techniques of selling products online. Whether your own or another’s, if you know how to sell, you can go a long way. But, it’s not just about selling, it’s about providing solutions. It’s a beneficial online business for both the affiliates and mobile advertising networks, as the former gets commissions per sale and the latter sells products with ease.
I have 3 VAs. I couldn’t function without them. It doesn’t matter how big or how small a business is, they all need help running their day-to-day administrative tasks. Virtual assistants perform a variety of tasks that a traditional assistant or secretary would normally do, including making travel arrangements, paying bills, or managing expense reimbursements. I use them to upload content, optimise images, brief writers etc.
Every time I surf internet, I come across thousands, not even thousands maybe millions of blogs targeting the keyword “make money online”. And why not ? It’s such a profitable keyword, its a gold mine basically. There has got to be every possible reason that you are targeting this gold nugget keyword “make money online”. Be it Adsense, Affiliates, CPAs, ebooks, clickbank products and what not – you just name it and have it !

I’ve covered no-experience-necessary transcription jobs quite a bit already. If you think you’d like to give typing a try, check out these 19 transcription companies that will hire beginners. You might also want to read my complete beginner’s guide to work from home typing jobs. Both articles are a great place to start if you want to get paid to type — no experience required.
Find a niche in which you’d be willing to put in the work to speak at a conference. If you’re just trying to jump into a niche to make money and leave, your site will suffer and will likely under perform its potential. If you find a niche that you’d be willing to put in the work to become well known enough to speak at a conference on, you’ll not only build a “niche site”, but you’ll build an authority site – which has much longer longevity.
Thank you, Ant! I feel strongly that if you’re writing from your heart—which doesn’t have to mean something uber personal, but something that you’re passionate about—you’ll build a unique and memorable connection with people. Look at (the awesome) Pat Flynn—his niche sites don’t make 1/4 as much as he does from his community-centric Smart Passive Income site. 🙂
I don’t have the patience or desire to negotiate on prices or respond to potential customer questions (which you definitely should do) and build up a good seller rating, but just because it’s not my cup of tea doesn’t mean it won’t work for you. Many people have made good money selling on eBay. To learn more, check out these tips from eBay’s power sellers.
Don't sacrifice morals for a quick buck — At the outset, you'll want to do all sorts of things to make money online, but don't sacrifice your morals for a quick buck. Not only will you put people off, but you'll lose Google's trust. You also shouldn't concern yourself with things like Adsense or other ads on a blog before you have around 100,000 visitors per day. Yes, per day.
Just curious, how much time would you say it would take the average person who has a decent understanding of how to do much of what you covered to get through all of these steps? Just a rough estimate. And how long, again, on average, after doing all of this would it take before that person starts seeing $500/month in a medium competitive niche – one that you would consider being pretty ideal?
Considering that you have a finite amount of time, passive income should make up a large part of your work. And if you're serious about generating any semblance of income online, then passive income should be one of your sole goals and ambitions. Why? Simply this. Wouldn't you prefer to do the work one time and get paid repeatedly as opposed to relying on your time to generate that income?
Hi Sarah. So it’s the middle of the night and I can’t sleep because I’m worried about paying my bills. It’s so ironic that I came across this post. I know that I would have plenty to post about with my love for DIY home-improvement and my distressed furniture business, but looking through all of your information it just seems so overwhelming. I feel like if I don’t read through everything I could make a mistake and end up paying money instead of money. I have prayed that God will send me an answer so I can get some sleep! Haha. Any advice?
They often expect you to commit to working a certain number of hours per week, which is generally part-time. They will pay you an hourly salary for that work, so it is really more of an at home job situation than it is in an entrepreneurial way to make money online. Still, if you want to get involved in political activity, and you have the time and motivation, this could be a way to monetize that passion.
Obviously, I’m a huge advocate for starting your own monetized blog. However, it does become a bit tricky when you’re trying to do it for free. First, you have two options for getting started – you can either use the free WordPress option or Blogger which is a commercial free platform. Both have similar features regarding functionality and design, and both can be monetized, but only through their respective ad networks.
