Megan, I’d encourage you to get my new book, as I wrote it with the specific intention of exactly what to do to get traffic and make money on a blog. It is divided up into chapters by the amount of traffic you have now, so it’s very easy to follow along, like a road map with step-by-step instructions to get you there! You can find, How to Turn Your Blog Into a Six-Figure Money Making Machine, on Amazon here.
Starting a blog allows you the opportunity to contribute small pieces of content gradually, and with enough content and effective marketing, you can grow an audience. Once you have an audience, there are a number of ways to monetize the traffic, such as Google AdSense, affiliate links, a blog store, selling ad space on the blog, or curating your content into an e-book to sell, among others.
I now want to create a new site on another subject that interests me, and decided to buy the domain from the evil godaddy this time (first site domain purchase and hosting plan is from another company that is so-so). What do you think of godaddy’s hosting services? I keep getting their e-mails with discount offers. Is WordPress really as simple as you make it out to be for someone not really into tech? Am already mildly stressed with so many separate accounts (domain, hosting, e-mails, control panel, phpbb forum login etc…)!
Have lots opinions on what works and what doesn't on the web? Then you might just be right for a "career" in remote usability testing. Actually, no one really makes a career at it, but user testers can pick up some extra work reviewing websites or mobile applications that may still be in development. You don't even necessarily have to be very knowledgeable about the Internet because some developers want the beginner's point of view.
25. Products – You can create your own product, such as an ebook or computer software. You would then use your blog as a promotion tool to get people to buy your product. As long as you create a legitimate product with a whole lot of value, you should be able to get some buyers, but like everything else with a blog, you’ll need the traffic to get the sells.
If you are a professional photographer, or have a real flair for photography, then selling your images on other sites could be an idea. This could be done alongside your own photography site, as it is a good way help get your work viewed by a wider audience. There are numerous stock image websites to contribute to, but choosing a popular high-end site like Shutterstock should ensure your photographs make you some money.
Affiliate Marketing is a reliable way to make extra money by helping online companies increase sales; and you will get paid commission for your sales. There are many online businesses who are looking for affiliate marketers. The biggest affiliate programs include Pinterest Virtual Assistant Jobs, Amazon, Bluehost, SiteGround, HostGator and ProofreadAnywhere. Also, some of the best recurring affiliate programs are Fusion Cash, Thrive Themes, LeadPages , ConvertKit and Aweber. Most affiliate marketing programs pay commissions ranging from 3% to 100%. No experience is required to do this side job.
Validated Response provides their home based agents with a flexible schedule as they work as independent contractors for the company. Their requirements are quite basic and include the need for a good computer with reliable internet, interpersonal skills and a good phone voice. No experience is requires as they are willing to train you for the position.
While there are outliers who struck it big, many of those stories are tough for the would-be entrepreneur to relate to. Trust me, you’re not alone. Kids building apps in their dorm rooms that sell for billions of dollars? It baffles us all and isn’t realistic as a goal. But the reality is, we’re all skilled at something, whether it’s science, math, juggling, being a parent, writing, or any one of the other skills that can be monetized into a stream of income online.

Hi Sean, great post. I have an old site that provides original information, and I make $700 a month from it despite the site being just very very basic html and my having limited SEO skills (although the site ranks well for most secondary keywords due to decent content and the fact that its been online for a number of years). The subject matter of that site holds very limited potential for a higher income, so I was too lazy in trying to improve it in terms of look (learning CSS, WordPress, Joomla etc…), ranking, social media and so on.
For those with a large Twitter following, you can make money from your Tweets alone with Sponsored Tweets. You could be paid for sharing a business’s information, recommending restaurants or hotels, or tweeting pictures of you using or wearing products. As with all sponsored posts on social media, businesses will only be prepared to pay you to Tweet if you have a large following that you can influence. So work hard on building up a loyal fan base.
Search engines often need human beings to check up on the relevancy and accuracy of search results to make sure the relevant search engine is providing the best search results that meet the searcher’s intent. Search engine evaluators give feedback as to whether the search results returned by any particular search engine are accurate, relevant and spam-free in response to the search query or queries based on the keywords given to them.
As you start regularly putting out content, you’ll hopefully start to build a bit of an audience. But to start seeing real money from YouTube you need to market your videos elsewhere. Share your channel on Twitter and Facebook. Distribute videos anywhere else you can think of. Also, interact with comments and build a community around the videos you’re making so people will share it with their friends.
Busy professionals often prove too busy to walk their dogs during the day, so they hire someone else to deal with it. To avoid up-front leash costs, include "owner-supplied leash" as a requirement in your ads. You can list your service for free on online classified sites, as well as encourage word-of-mouth by spreading the word to friends and family about your dog walking service. The experts over at Dog*Tec suggest that social media marketing does not always generate new clients, but often does serve as a brand loyalty booster. Be warned that, in most places, dog walkers must clean up any poop their doggie wards leave on the ground. Leftover plastic grocery bags provide a free solution to that problem.

I’m very much inspired from your blog!! I’ve been contemplating for quite sometime on blogging. I’m a new mom and I’ve gained quite some weight, and i feel as if blogging can be an inspiration to not only provide money for my family (I really hate being away from my little guy, since i work 2 jobs just barely getting by) but be an inspiration for myself and new moms!!! You truly are my savior with all your advice, thank you!!!!
Now I’m not sure how to proceed. Do I spend money and time attempting to drive traffic to the site and just hope that I eventually get accepted into the affiliate programs or do I rethink my monetization strategy completely? Since the site is a tool rather than a collection of information articles, it’s more difficult to generate organic search traffic so paid advertising may be the best option. It’s hard to spend money on advertising though when you aren’t sure if it will ever result in earning money.
Hehe, believe me or not, I bought many times links on fiverr for 5$ 🙂 And they worked 😀 Google is nothing but a big bunch of shitty programmed algorithms… Google is like financial software trying to find an “ideal” model to beat the market, but market always wins. So please stop speaking about Google as about a goodness… Google “wants” you to build natural links, bla bla..
It may take time to build that audience that turns views into dollars. The average revenue per 1,000 YouTube views is just over $6. But with enough videos for fans to scroll through, those views can add up over time. While you're building an audience, you could also join an affiliate program related to your channel and make money through affiliate links in your video descriptions.

You see, I built my very first website back in 2005 (over a decade ago) and I've been building these types of sites ever since as well as maintaining my own blog here at Niche Pursuits. You can read more about my qualifications to talk about this subject; however, I feel very confident that this truly is the only resource you will need to get your very first niche website up and earning.

Both highly ranked by BBB. Both highly ranked by BBB. They list charts on their websites for what you pay and very clear thorough instructions of how to go about sending in your gold. Important thing: they pay for and insure your shipping. You send them the gold. They value it. Let you know. And you have the option to sell it to them, OR to have your gold returned. Usually gets shipped in the same day.
I, like many other people, have had niche sites hit by Google before because of aggressive link building. By minimizing offsite SEO, you are lowering the risk your site will get hit while increasing ROI with easy keywords that your competition is not targeting; a win-win situation. A caveat to what I mentioned above is to do the process manually. Sure, there are tools to help aid in your keyword research phase, but nothing will ever beat human intuition. This is why I spend so much time digging up keywords, because other people are not. If you devote the time, results will come.

Another thing I do not like about Textbroker: even when the client, whom you wrote a particular article for, absolutely loves what you wrote and gives you an excellent rating, quite often Textbroker will still rate the same article low, usually for nit picky things such as lacking just one or two comas, or, because they didn’t like the way you chose to phrase stuff within your article. Here again, if the client, who is actually paying for your work, is not only satisfied, but in fact, very happy with the article, who the heck are the Textbroker editors to say it is not good enough?!!!

If you know how to design a website, or can muster the patience to learn the necessary HTML, Javascript and CSS, you can launch a website design business with no money. A number of sites offer free website hosting and domain/subdomain names, and you can build your own website to support the new business. A simple email to friends and business associates letting them know you now offer website design services starts the marketing ball rolling for free.
It’s just weird not knowing what I do not know. Perhaps if I followed along and hired someone to build links, traffic would be 2X higher? Who knows. I even saw a testimonial from one of my PF blog peers how great so and so link building/SEO site was… and I was thinking…. man, what a fool I am to not participate and take the easier way. The site also is a PR5, but I don’t think the traffic is the same, but who knows.
As a teen, babysitting was my bread and butter. I would babysit my father’s co-worker’s children, the neighborhood kids, my siblings, as well as children from the church we attended. It was an easy way to make some money, and obviously, I didn’t spend any money on advertising my services. While most of my clients were from word of mouth referrals, I was also able to offer my child care services on the local bulletin board at our church, and I told everyone I wanted to work.
While some might think that starting a blog is an arduous effort, when you understand the precise steps you need to take, it becomes far easier. It all starts in the decision of choosing a profitable niche and picking the right domain name. From there, you need to build your offers. You can easily sell things like mini-email courses, full-blown trainings, ebooks, and so on.
Why do you have a fill out form with email & I put my email in it don’t take it this is crazy how can anyone do a dam job if it says there email is wrong when it’s not I’m sick & tried of all these dam scrams even take this shit down that’s fake are fixes the dam thing so people can do there job & get paid I’m looking for real home jobs that pay but when it comes to email & it’s says it’s wrong when it’s not it’s bullshit
Anyone interested in making money online should be pursuing passive income, while also working on active income. There are loads of ways to generate an income passively on the internet, many of which start at the foundation of having a blog, generating substantial traffic and building an audience and a list. Is it easy? Nope. Is it worth it? It sure is. But that doesn't mean you need to start a blog to make money online today.

CashCrate sends out literally thousands of payments a month to users just like you who spend time completing surveys and offers on CashCrate.com. How do they do it? Well, they do surveys and offers regularly. It really adds up! Your initial goal should be to meet minimum payout, which is $20.00. Making $20.00 in free cash is actually quite easy considering there are hundreds of surveys and offers available, but here are a few tips to get you to your goal faster:
The more content you produce and optimise, the more keywords you will rank for and the more visitors you will get. In order to rank well in the search engines you need to produce high quality, original content on a regular basis. We know the search engines are placing more and more emphasis on ranking high quality content. All of the algorithm updates like Panda and Penguin are efforts to ensure the best sites appear in the search results. So regardless of the industry you select, you need to make sure you are producing high quality content.
You won't like to hear this but internet marketers and politicians are quite similar. Both pretend to care for their target audience, network with influential lobbies, follow the popular opinion and make every effort to stay in the news. Why? Because both need votes. Politicians need them to get to the top government positions Internet marketers need […]

Thank you Spencer. I have been floundering around trying to make money online for about 3 years. Minimum amounts earned as an Amazon and Clickbank affiliate. Maybe enough for a case of beer at the end of the year after my hosting expenses. I was excited when I learned how to build a WordPress site considering I only knew how to get email when I started, but I have become disillusioned ever since. Thanks again.

I should warn everybody about SlicethePie. I have been a member of slicethepie for about three or four months, and while everything was going great, they are quick to lock your account for any type of reason, even when you are not breaking the terms and conditions. I made sure each and every time I used that website that I was not breaking their terms and conditions, and my account still got locked. So I would just watch out for that. That is just my personal experience with the website though. It may be different for other people.
Of course, there is a lot you can do to promote and market your Kindle book, so that it gets selling.  This is all stuff that can be learned on your own (just through searching the internet), or can be learned through investing in a course (again, costs money).  It will take you longer and require more effort to learn how to market your book on your own, but it IS possible (if you don't want to invest any money).
Research individual companies in your desired niche: If possible, it’s always better to become an affiliate directly with a company (if they have an internal affiliate program), as no one else will be dipping into your commission rate. This is the preferred route for most of the prominent affiliate marketers, including Pat Flynn. Unfortunately, it’s also the most work, as you’ll have to do the research yourself to see who offers programs (they’re usually listed in the website footer).

Whether it’s an important consumer application, a specialist app to solve a particular niche problem, or even a time-wasting game you can play on your phone, you can create a massively successful business if you build software that helps people. (Look at the rise of Slack—the team communication software that went from side project to billion-dollar company in just 2 years.)
Here’s the deal… If your chosen niche keyword has a certain amount of competition, more than you would usually be happy with, but you are super passionate about the niche you’re thinking of getting involved in, go for it! In my mind passion will always overcome plain old competition. It’s the passion behind Zappos that’s made them the driving force behind shoe sales online – even though there are a ton of people selling shoes online.
A fitness site can have numerous revenue streams. Create healthy eating plans and recipes and lock them away as premium content. Promote and sell a fitness training course, eBook, or a series of videos. Or advertise your own personal fitness services on your site. Topfithub is  a good example of a fitness site with decent video content alongside product reviews.

Alorica@Home – Working for Alorica is another job that’ll keep you on the phones, and is great for outgoing, productive people working from home. Alorica provides outsourced communication solutions to companies across a vast array of industries – according to their website, you might help with insurance billing in one call, provide technical assistance on another, to reservation and booking questions on the next. They provide paid training and offer some medical benefits, while hourly payment is guaranteed to meet your local minimum wage.
However, that is not enough. You also need to factor in competition. You’re wasting your time trying to rank for highly competitive keywords like iPhone or Football or Lady Gaga! So you need to find the ones that have weaker competition in the search results that you can outrank. There are tools like Long Tail Pro and Market Samurai that help with this analysis.

There are bloggers who have created a large site first and then diverted their attention in building small niche sites. That worked for them but it may not work for you. You don’t know what is going to work for you. My advise here is to create 5 small sites first and generate revenue from each. Once that happens, then create the 6th site and make it big. If the sixth site falls, you have 5 options to fall back to.

If you aren't a writer (or hate writing), then the option that I recommend for people is to outsource this step and hire a ghostwriter.  There's plenty of writers (and companies that I use) that can write your Kindle book for you on ANY topic you want for as low as $55-75 for a 5000 word book.  This costs money and it's an option that is available for you.  They will typically deliver the book within 7-14 days.
Travel blogging is a hard industry to break into. However, the rewards can be worth it, and let’s face it, who doesn’t want to be paid for traveling around the world! There are numerous ways to monetize a travel blog, but affiliate marketing should predominantly be your focus. On your blog, promote hotels, tours, equipment hire services, flights, and anything else travel related. Then take a cut of the proceeds as your audience books their holidays based on your recommendations.
Etsy: While Etsy's popularity has declined recently, it's still a great resource for selling handmade items online. No need for complex ecommerce sites or merchant accounts or any sort of automation. The company takes a commission of every sale and charges a small listing fee per item. But many still use Etsy as their primary source of income. The best part is that you can also sell digital products on here such as poster designs.
If your are interested in earning a passive income online, creating a niche website is a good avenue to pursue. A niche website is a site that focuses on one specific topic or subject that provides value in the form of information, education or entertainment. An example of a niche website would be a website that focuses solely on how to train your dog, or a website that provides meditation courses and tips. Information and value is given to the visitors of the site on a consistent basis.

Keep in mind though, you don’t need a website to do sponsored content since you can also get paid if you have a lot of social media followers. My wife has a pretty big Instagram following, and she gets all kinds of sponsorships. Not only does she get paid in cash, but we get a lot of free stuff, too. We’ve received free rugs, free lights, and free carpet cleaners. She only promotes things she loves though, so this strategy works really well for her.

Cash 4 Books is an online business where you can sell new and used books. Grab your books and head to the website; here you’ll be able to enter each book’s ISBN, which is a 10 or 13 digit number that can be found on the back cover or inside the front cover of almost all books. Once you have entered each code, you’ll receive a quote for each book. Next, send your books in with a pre-paid shipping label. Once they receive your books, you’ll be paid either via check or PayPal.
